Wake up Cinderella!
Dear ladies, braise yourselves for an inconvenient truth. There is no such thing as the perfect lover. There is no such thing as Mr. Right. There is no such thing as Prince Charming, unless you live in the world of Shrek. Do not believe in what Hollywood is trying to sell you.
Ever since my adolescent life I’ve heard countless stories of girlfriends getting dumped by boys who turned out to be the biggest of all them assholes. Males are deceiving creatures. But so can many females be, lets be honest about that.
Chocolate helps to overcome the grief, but that offers only temporary consolation. Soon enough you are bound to look for a rebound. Or perhaps for someone else to share the loneliness with. So you’re back in the game, stepping up a notch and hoping that this time you will find just that perfect guy and that it will just perfectly work out. There is no such thing as perfection. Looking for perfection will only lead to disappointment. So how come girls love the sweet illusion of the ideal partner? The image can really look good on paper, but it usually cannot be found on the three-dimensional world.
But it’s for this target group that countless books are written on the man catching theory; how women can land their dream men in only a few weeks, how to find the love of your life, how he’s out there waiting for you and only for you. Seriously? Seriously. Such a waste of paper.
The lack of perfection is what makes all of us human. How often do you find yourself thinking “In a perfect world …” Finish the sentence to your own liking. Then you wake up and look around and come to terms with the fact that you just have to make do with what’s available. The same goes for finding a partner. The best thing is to expect the perfectly possible, which is a man who’s not at all perfect but totally good enough. Get your expectations right or you die searching.
Can you count on your initial instincts to be able to decipher 'the one’ from just another break-up waiting to happen? I guess you will find out as you go along: it’s really a continuous and cumbersome trial-and-error process until you find the one that you want to stick by. And when that moment comes, you know that it’s the closest to perfection that you can get. There is nothing else to find.
